Combat Skills

Combat values are derived from a character's attributes and skills, and represent their proficiency in combat. These values are used to determine the outcome of combat actions, such as attack and defense rolls.

Derived Base Value

The combat base value is directly derived from the character's attributes and skills, calculated using the following formula:

\[ \text{Base Value} = \frac{\text{Timing} + 2 \times \text{Resilience} + \text{Precision} + \text{Recon} + 2 \times \text{Ops} + \text{Tactics}}{4} \]
Example Calculation

Consider a character with the following attributes and skills:

  • Timing: 10
  • Resilience: 8
  • Precision: 6
  • Recon: 4
  • Ops: 2
  • Tactics: 0

The combat base value would be calculated as follows:

\[ \text{Base Value} = \frac{10 + 2 \times 8 + 6 + 4 + 2 \times 2 + 0}{4} = \frac{10 + 16 + 6 + 4 + 4 + 0}{4} = \frac{40}{4} = 10 \]

Character Values

For each of the three combat categories (Unarmed, Melee, Ranged), characters have a combat value that ranges from 0 to 6.

Their final combat value for each category is calculated by adding the base value to the category modifier, which is determined by the character's experience and training in that specific combat category.

\[ \text{Combat Value}_{\text{Category}} = \text{Base Value} + \text{Category Modifier} \]
Example Calculation

Using the previous example, if the character has a category modifier of 2 for Unarmed combat, the combat value for Unarmed would be calculated as follows:

\[ \text{Combat Value}_{\text{Unarmed}} = 10 + 2 = 12 \]
